Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width overall consisting of a silver background with corners rounded at the top and bearing a blue eagle facing to the left with wings upraised and standing between five blue stars arched at the top and two scarlet horizontal bars at base, all above a semi-circular scroll inscribed "FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY" in silver letters.

Symbolism
The eagle is symbolic of the United States; the five stars represent a high level of achievement.  The number five in numerology denotes communication, speed, conversation, travel and writing; the two horizontal bars symbolize control and strength, all of which apply to the US Army Postal Group, Europe.  Red, white and blue are colors used for the US Postal Service.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 22 February 1978.
